Q: I am in love with this rug, though not in love with the price tag. I am basically duplicating this room with everything except the rug. Is there a cheaper version out there that would give the room a similar feel?

I saw a segment on "Live Well" where Lisa Quinn purchased carpet dye/paint and stencils and 'painted' a rug to go with the room she was redecorating.
I can't find the company's name but if you go to 'livewellnetwork" and do a search, maybe you can find it.

I agree, if you found a flat-woven cotton rug, you could stencil with latex paint with fabric medium in it to keep it flexible.
Go to overstock.com and type in "thomaspaul" all one word. Some similar and very fun flat weave patterned rugs, great prices!
