I've seen lots of really inspring loft spaces, but I've never seen one with its own Juliet balcony before. Jules over at The Diversion Project in Australia found this incredible one. I love how the elegant balcony adds extra space for her magazines and books, and also creates a cozy reading nook underneath.
In this fresh and modern home, the child lives in the sweet little bedroom downstairs, while the parent lives in the beautiful loft above. I guess you could say that the balcony also acts as a guard rail so that you don't fall out of the bed! It's a lovely addition to an already smart looking apartment, combining a practical solution with a unique and polished look.

Lovely, but t hose stairs to the balcony would mean *I* could never get there.
i loooove this. i'm with sherrybinnh on the stairs, though... i couldn't do it! bravo for those who could!
Is Jules a spider monkey, by any chance? How in the world does a person climb those wall nubbins? What if said person had a large dinner and several drinks, or would like a less coordinated person to join them up on the mattress? Seriously, wth?
When we built my daughters bunk beds, the first couple of times she had a problem getting up the ladder. It hurt her feet. After about 2 days it was old hat. I'm sure it was difficult the first few times negotiating those steps, but I bet it made the user more agile in the long.
getting up- no problem
getting down?? i think id have a panic attack!!
This place is so cute. I love the balcony, I'd feel less like I would roll off than if it were curtains. I don't know about the stair situation. I'd need more of a ladder to feel comfortable, but it is so bright and fresh, I just love it.
Cute, but unsafe with those stairs which at minimum, are going to ensure sore feet or scuffed up walls.
It's so lovely! I agree that the stairs could be a bit challenging, but perhaps you could first get in some practice at the rock climbing gym!
The loft platform reminds me of a piano shape.
I am a small apartment girl, it is has lots of character... I love white , so much can be done. So many colors can be displayed.. where is the kitchen?
It's very nice!
However, I'd probably do the turtle (back on the floor, legs and arms waving around) a few times because of these stairs O.o
Can't be in a rush, that's for sure!
Looking at the photo gallery over at The Diversion Project, does anyone know who makes shelves like the one in picture 9? (The white metal one?)
this is lovely apart from the flooring. It looks nice but the reality is that you either sweep the floor every 5 minutes or shave off every single body hair otherwise it is going to show on the floor. I know it's a little eewww but it is the truth!
As with everyone else, the stairs look a wee bit scary. And I for one love color so all that white is a bit too sterile for me BUT it's really nicely done. Love the space for sure but give me a good ole fashion ladder! :o)
Well... It looks really nice and cozy in the close-ups, but I don't think it integrates well with the rest of the room (more pics in the link). It's big and bulky and very... there!? I like the idea, though, with the "private space" and how it's aligned with the window.
I would need a giant air cushion, or trapeze net, at the bottom of the steps.
Love that the loft includes extra space.
I think I'd be ok with the rock climbing stairs, though I see not many are hip to that.
I'm really loving this!!
And... I adore the white. It's so fresh and clean and bright! Makes the colors stand out more.
they sleep, not live, in their bed spaces...
sorry, but really...
If there ever was a loft bed that I love, this is it. I'd climb those three rungs like a stairway to heaven. Airy, light, swooping, minimalist dream.
Oooooohhhhh. This is perfect. The stairs aren't a problem at all in my book, maybe they wanted stairs they could climb but not their child. Seems fair enough considering the drop for an adult isn't exactly life threatening.
Very nice looking. I, too, still have to figure out how to climb up, but the owners must've mastered that.
I just wonder if they want to make love, do they have to go to a hotel?
@PRUE: It's a String shelf, as far as I can see.
Oh! I did not even notice the nubbies getting up to the bed. I could never.....I'm afraid of heights. Is it scary? I would be half-asleep one morning and fall. I love the white though. Just so airy and light.
That tiled stove!!!! beautiful. The steps to the bed, fixable. For the life of me, I can't figure out where photo '4' fit's in the apartment.
.... Hold on, could it possibly be a childs' bedroom off the main room? Then this isn't a studio, but bloody Nora, it's proof you can have a family comfortably and stylishly in a small apartment!!
i'm with everyone else here. love the look, scratching my head about the rock climbing stairs. in any case beautiful space!
Love it! And I, for one, love the stairs to the bed. Very cool! It wouldn't be THAT hard to climb. And when I'm 80 I can get one of those cool elevator chairs! Awesome! I wish everything was shades of black though :)
Nice!
I love this! I really do. I could totally live there. It's fresh, bright and airy and just very cozy looking.
Cool... but where's the TV???? :)
