Name: Logan
Age: 5
Location: Austin, TX
Room size: 12x12 (roughly)
For their middle son's fifth birthday, Michele Anderson and her husband decided to give him his own space. Not only did they move Logan's brother out so Logan could have his own room, they decorated it in his favorite color, orange, with his favorite motif: dinosaurs! And they did it all while Logan was visiting his grandma, so when he arrived home, it was a big birthday surprise.

The highlight of Logan's new room is the colorful orange wall with its large, dinosaur mural based on a T-Rex wall sticker by e-glue. But there are plenty of smaller touches that make this little boy's room special. The white dressers and side table have small, matching orange dinosaur decals, and the whiteboard frame is painted orange to match the opposite wall. The lighting ties in beautifully, with a mod orange lamp on the side table and a playful orange lava lamp on the dresser. Even the fish tank gets into the scheme, with bright blue rocks contrasting the-- you guessed it-- orange sea plants and fish.

How would you describe the look and feel of this room? Bright, childlike, but something that can mature with him.
What was the biggest challenge decorating this room? We were trying to do this as a surprise for my son's 5th birthday. Trying to plan it and gather materials and take measurements with him around was tough. We sent him away for the weekend with his grandmother and we had to work day and night to finish it before he returned. We were exhausted, but the look on his face when he saw his own room (he used to share with his brother) was worth it!
If money were no object, what’s your dream source? Hmmmm...tough call as when I have a vision, I usually have to pull from several different sources to get what I'm looking for. So, if money were no object, I would hire an interior decorator to do all of that for me.

Why did you choose orange as your main color scheme? It's my son's favorite color. And I love orange as well. It's so bright, and warm, and fun. It's childlike and mod at the same time.

I love this room, it should be in the contest!
Love!
It turned out great! I love orange too, and this was very well done. Nice to see so many Austin rooms lately!
love love LOVE!! would love to have a room like that (says the woman with three decades behind her..)
I love this and I love dinosaurs!
I created the book, Dinosaur Roar! and have a DinosaurStore, so have spent my life drawing dinosaurs but this is so cool and simple.
This is an awesome looking kids bedroom. How cool. If you have a moment, check out the bunk beds we've designed to save space in smaller rooms like this when more than one person may need to share a room (or for sleep overs.)

I've been eyeing those metal locker bins at Target. You might have convinced me to get a bunch. Great room!
This is just too awesome! What a fun room for a boy, and yes, it can definitely evolve as he grows. Great use of the mellow West Elm bedding with the bright orange walls.
