Turbo-Charged Routers On the Way?

Turbo-Charged Routers On the Way?

Over the past few years, we've pretty much witnessed the wireless-N standard reach the saturation point in consumer goods. What's the next logical step then? If you're into fast cars or simply want to push your bandwidth to the limit, then maybe it's what Logitec has in store for the near future - super fast routers that can reach lightning fast speeds of up to 450Mbps.

Yep, that's Logitec without the "H." The Japanese company promises their new line of routers - set to be released in April this year - will boast download speeds of 450MBps. This means while your neighbor's file transfers may be sluggishly going at 150MBps (the general standard for wireless-N these days), you'll be flying past all the Internet traffic with your propeller powered thingy-ma-bob in flying LOLCAT colors.

This isn't the first time we've seen 3 antennas on a router.

However, it's not the first time we've seen triple antennas trying to garner the attention of the consumer. D-Link has their DIR-855 model, but their focus is on stable media streaming rather than raw speed. We're not too sure how well the Logitec model will perform for the home theater, but one thing's for sure - we probably won't need it unless Google's comes to town to give us awesome super-speed fiber optics.

You can grab the Logitec router from Japan for around $240.
