Sherri Snelson, a North-Carolona native living in the Fulham section of London, has renovated her four-story Victorian house. The New York Times gives us a peek into the 1904 house where Sherri carved out a more modern interior among some of the original period details...

Why didnt she change the faucets from one that is strictly hot water and one that is strictly cold water the the american style one that mixes them for you? i love everything about london and wish more than anything else that i could find a job and live there, but i have never understood why they use these type of faucets.
I wouldn't exactly describe the interior as modern but more as classic.
cool space, but what a bunch of wasted potential. total snooze.
Mflick--I distinctly remember burning myself constantly the entire time I lived in the UK! (Though I did get the rhythm down after awhile.)
I really love the built ins next to the fireplace. That is something I have dreamt of having. Very pretty!
Knowing London well enough to comprehend how expensive homes are there, I saw "row house" and was looking forward to seeing an ingenious fix-up of the usual narrow, small-surface-area homes you see there.
But nearly 2,500 square feet? It would be hard *not* to do a good job renovating something that size, especially if you have enough money to buy the thing... and have a sleigh bed shipped over from New York!?
I very much disliked the paved-over garden, too. She's rich enough to buy a place that size in London, but paved over the garden for "less maintenance" -- how about respecting the environment by keeping it earthen, and hiring a gardener?
The interiors are very middle America...I expected something worthy of Living Etc. or at least Domino from a renovated London row house.
fraise--yes! I was thinking the same thing but figured my first comment was enough snark.
this house is a perfect example of how spending a lot of money isn't what makes a cool home. I bet it was better pre-reno.
I've been to North Carolina. I imagine North-Carolona can only be better.
The ceiling light and medallion in the bedroom is lovely - thanks for the "inspiration"!
