Love outdoor eating but hate all the insects? Well you can beat the bugs with a simple trick — dangle a clear plastic bag filled with water from a tree or parasol and they'll be drawn to their magnified image and not your lunch.
Has anyone tried this? Does it work?

How funny. I've seen restaurants do this for outdoor tables but I always thought that they were just weighing down the awning. I've got to try it!
a lot of restaurants do this in austin for their outdoor patios, and it does work. i'm not sure whether it works for mosquitos though - which is the problem at our place.
I have not tried this, but it looks like good bait for snipe!
If it's a mosquito deterrent, I'm all for it! Though...it does look like a practical joke awaiting a victim!
