We spent Saturday cleaning the kitchen from top to bottom: walls, floors, cupboards, appliances. We even moved the refrigerator out from the wall so we could tackle the dust bunnies behind it. We saved some trees by avoiding paper towels and using Twist Euro Cloths on Janel's recommendation - they worked wonders! We scrubbed with Mrs. Meyers geranium-scented green cleaning products (also Janel's favorite). For a peek inside our cupboards look below the jump...

We're big fans of using hooks to organize around the house.

In our attempt to go greener, we've been AC-free all summer, using fans instead.
On a side note, I have to give a shout-out to my husband, who sacrificed Saturday basketball for kitchen cleaning. You rock, Steve!

Ooh, jealous! What a cute happy bright little kitchen! And so clean! I'm putting off doing a kitchen clean but I need to get to it b/c I have family coming into town this weekend...
And I love the linoleum! I have determined that if we ever remodel I am getting that stuff in my new kitchen (and it's comparatively green, I've been told. Is this true?).
To me this floor looks like a peel & stick vinyl (I have it too) We are upgrading our kitchen soon, and I am considering installing Marmoleum, which is a linoleum floor that is made with 100% natural ingredients: linseed oil, cork, limestone, tree rosin and natural minerals.

Real linoleum is comparatively green (not the vinyl stuff). You want the real stuff, made with linseed oil. All natural materials, the pigment goes all the way through, easy to clean (although polishing is recommended), no nasty off-gassing.
Man, I miss those spacious Chicago kitchens.
i have just started making my own cleaning supplies -- inspired by bbc america's "how clean is your house?" and their use of mainly vinegar, baking soda, and lemons to defunkify everything. there are a ton of good green websites with recipes for everything from laundry detergent to antibacterial surface spray.
Anyone ever use the cleaning products made by Seventh Generation? Does this dish washing detergent really work? I have to hand wash the dishes so I need something that really works.
Your kitchen is cute. I have the same cabinets in my rental apartment and I also like turquoise colored accents with it.

I use Seventh Generation dish soap, I cook a lot and hand wash my dishes. Cuts grease effectively.
I love the kitchen - especially the table. I have a tiny kitchen but need to eat in and have been looking for something just like that. Has anyone seen a small rectangular table lately similar to the one in this kitchen?
I didn't find the Seventh Generation dishwashing detergent to be effective enough for me, and I hate the smell of most of the Mrs Meyers stuff (it bugs me when something called lemon verbena smells nothing like lemon verbena and more like cheap perfume) soooo, you may take my advice with a grain of salt, but I've been very happy with BioKleen dishwashing detergents and laundry soap. We do a lot of cooking and subsequent washup and we tried nearly all of the "green" dishwashing liquids and BioKleen was what ended up working best for us.

I have those same cabinet organizers. They completely transformed my kitchen cabinets. Considering that my kitchen is so small that it borders on useless, the organizers actually transformed my entire kitchen.
I don't know where you bought yours, but I got my Kitchen Cabinet Organizers from Organize It. I think Organized Living has them to.
