Our space isn't small, but we do have a few issues that you sometimes find in a small apartment: tiny bedrooms, not much storage, and lack of closet space. Click below to see how we applied what we've learned from Apartment Therapy...

In our landing strip, we used wall hooks, an IKEA Lack Shelf, and the wall-mounted Trones storage system in place of a traditional entryway closet. For more on our landing strip, click here.

Our kitchen, although roomy, doesn't have much cabinet space. We compensated by using shelving inserts from the Container Store.

For more ideas on how to create more storage space in the kitchen (most of which we've used in our own space), click here.

Our bed fits inside an alcove, which leaves no space for bedside tables. We hung wall-mounted lamps above an IKEA shelf that holds our alarm clock. For sourcing info, see this post.

good stuff! i really love the curvy bowl on the landing strip, and that you used those cord thingies (?) in the bedroom. what are those things called again?
Your alarm clock seems to be in a really awkward spot - it looks like you have to actually get out of bed and stand up to turn it off (or see what time it is, for that matter).
I would imagine that, for some people at least, having to get out of bed to turn off the alarm clock would probably be considered a good idea.
I'm with Kathryn on the alarm clock. Otherwise, I really like all of those solutions!
Wouldn't it be cool to have an alarm clock mounted on the underside of the shelf?
The alarm clock placement might be good for some, bad for others. When I used to only allow four hours of sleep per night, I had to move the alarm clock halfway across the room (or I'd just hit snooze).
I like mail caddy. When the mail lies flat, I have a tendency to forget it when I'm going out the door.
If I dont have to step out of my bed and walk 3 steps to my clock, I dont actually wake up before my head lands back on the pillow. Its bitten me a few times
would agree with having alarm clock away from bed, tendency is to hit snooze, and wake up flustered cause I'm late for work!
What are those things under the lack shelf at the landing strip?
kdkaboom: the bowl is by Eva Zeisel IIRC. i think C&B brough out a reproduction series recently. HTHS.
