A favorite and inexpensive way of ours to add texture to a room is with lighting-- the softer the better. That's why Jenn's simple light underneath a frosted dining table is so appealing to us. Jenn's light of choice after the jump...

A simple paper lantern from IKEA does the trick. Illuminating the frosted glass and adding an extra layer of warmth to the space--the lantern glows from below. Using cube ottomans as chairs, Jenn simply places the light source directly underneath the center of the table. This is a great plan for renters when placing a light directly above the table is not an option.

how about undercounter lighting underneath a coffee table w/ frosted top?i was thinking of doing this, haven't yet checked out options @ hardware store/home depot.
Love the look. I have been looking for stools for my dining table as well--where are those from??
This looks pretty when the stools are pushed in, but it might be a little awkward when people are actually sitting at the table. Don't they end up kicking the lamp? Those Ikea paper lamps tear really easily. I agree that undercounter lighting might be a better long-term solution. Good idea, though.
