Besides the gorgeous kitchen, the thing that really caught our eye was the pallet plate rack in Katrin Arens's home. It's lovely and simple with a twist of rustic...
Katrin Arens, who has furnished her home with some amazing reclaimed pieces, states she has "dedication to the reclamation and re-use of materials, combined with unusual and individual treatments and processes, make ordinary objects extraordinary."
Just by finishing the pallet with a little bit of beeswax, Arens was able to brighten and beautify the pallet, turning it into a piece of furniture. We love it!
Check out Arens's website for more of her reclaimed goods.

Love this. I'm going through a pallet phase.
Love the idea! I'm looking for a compact rack to hold hand-made plates vertical within my closed cupboard. Anybody know of an available rack that doesn't eat up the space?
Are those sprayed with stuff?
Pallets are actually either sprayed or the wood is first soaked in chemicals that prevent the actual wood from decomposing or being eaten by bugs. Furniture and especially items that hold dishware SHOULD NEVER be made from them. Technically people should use gloves to just handle them!
brilliant! thanks for sharing!!!
Pallets aren't always sprayed. Just often are. If you do your research, you can find "clean" ones.
