Look!: A Soy Candle Collection

At some point, during the month of December we must have said something about wanting a soy candle or two. And those words must have fallen on gift-idea hungry ears, because we got four.

It's quite a collection with quite a variety of scents: (from left to right) White Tea from Cost Plus World Market, Lavender & Mint from Target ($10.19), Bitter Sweet Chocolate from Scharffen Berger (a local chocolate maker), and Peppermint Vanilla from Method ($9).

Soy wax candles are much better for your home and the earth than traditional wax candles because they're made of soybean oil, rather than petroleum products, they're biodegradable, they last longer, and they do not emit any toxins into the air as they burn.

We found the Lavendar & Mint from Target and the White Tea from Cost Plus to be a little too heavily scented -- while the Peppermint Vanilla from Method and the Bittersweet Chocolate from Scharffen Berger are both very sweet smelling, but a bit more subtle.

That's just our opinion, though. Have you found any soy candles you love?
