Our visit to Marfa, TX last week offered up a lot of interest, inspiration and surprises. While our camera captured much of the stillness of the area combined with the active artist community, we thought what better place to first share during AT's bathroom month than this striped one. Found in a great bookstore (Marfa Book Company), the colorful stripes appeared to be painted at first glance. Then we noticed they were actually adhered strips (various wallpaper borders or possibly wallpaper cut to size?)...
More soon from our Marfa escape...

These photos are very abstract. I would have loved to have seen how they work with the actual bathroom fixtures and the floor. Hard to get a sense of it.
Reminds me of the bathrooms in Half Price Books stores, some of them have bathrooms wallpapered with old book and comic book covers.
Very very cool.
I'm such a label whore - my first thought is that it's a Coach stunt: http://racked.com/archives/2007/08/02/storecasting_coachs_stripe_sho.php
I wonder what the other folks in the bathroom were thinking about our blogger taking photographs in there???
All it's missing is a Menudo poster...
I agree with Kellylc in that it's hard to figure out whether this bathroom is a hit or a miss w/o seeing how it works with the rest of the bathroom.
This is a great idea for a public restroom. While it's too much for one household to use every day, the design and colors make up for the traditional lack of decor in these areas. And maybe the rest of us can just use it for inspiration...?
Cute. But where's the rest of the room?
sorry...you guys are right. it was a single person bathroom only, and hard to get some full shots. i'll just say: floor to ceiling, 100% stripes, 4 walls.
I can't wait to see the rest of your Marfa posts! I'm going there on a day trip next month when I visit my brother in El Paso, TX and I want to make sure we don't miss anything! Do you have restaurant recomendations for lunch?
Ha ha, I recognized that bathroom immediately! I love Marfa.
LOL that's a long danged road trip, Tobermory...Texas is big.
More like a barfroom.
10 hours from Houston to Alpine... I can make it in 8
Marfa Texas is so cool!
Wow! Does Tepper Jackson live here or what? Very inspired, very lively! I like it.
