There are yard sales and then there are YARD SALES. Our neighbor, Mark Waters, has his own Junk Removal and Estate Cleanout service so he has a steady stream of treasures, which he warehouses and resells in Dedham, MA. But a few times a year, Mark hosts a yard sale in his Jamaica Plain driveway and this past weekend we got lucky...
Ambling into the sale on the late side, we were shocked to discover that no one had claimed this endearing solid wood sculpture with sad green eyes, with a tag that read “Monkey Boy.” He reminded us of a mix between our dog, Arlo, and a character from the much loved book “Where the Wild Things Are.” It’s only been a couple days since Monkey Boy joined our family but visitors are already enchanted.

Incidentally, you can find Mark and his reasonably priced wares THIS Saturday (May 31st) at a mini flea market at the Curtis Hall Community Center in Jamaica Plain. Mark also opens his Dedham storehouse of treasures to the public most Saturdays from 12:30 to 3:30. But be sure to call to confirm (857-891-0003).

monkey boy or sad werewolf teen? you be the judge.
I like.
Um, wow, it *is* a boy. An anatomically correct monkey boy. And not a happy one, at that...
My sad monkey boy table,
was such a forlorn site to see.
Then I polished that little rascal
and now he grins with glee!
Hahahahahahaha, I just bought a chest of drawers from him last week. He has some good stuff.
why so pensive monkey boy?
One of my husband's most prized possessions was purchased from Mark's driveway. (a stuff armadillo) and now that I am thinking about it, I got the most wonderful "mod" set of bedside tables from him as well. I love monkey boy!! ..I can see why you couldn't pass him up!
I miss old enfield street!
