Aalto on the Finnish Bill

When I visited Finland, the markka was still the currency in use (not the Euro). And what struck me the most was the fact that Alvar Aalto, famed modernist architect, was on the 50-markka bill!

Prominently featured on the front of the bill is a profile of Aalto. And on the back is one of his buildings, Finlandia Hall. Can you imagine the equivalent here in the States? A portrait of Frank Lloyd Wright on the 20-dollar bill, with Fallingwater on the back? I was in awe of an architect being given such an honor as being featured on the nation's currency.

What foreign currency have you fallen in love with? And why? Anyone figure out a good way to display it in the home?
