In honor of color month, we're sharing with you our fantasy antique furniture piece: a paint pigment cabinet. These cabinets were used in art stores to hold oil paint pigments sold to fine artists. As an artist and design addict, we love this antique! More photos and info below the jump...

10-10-art-3.jpg The antique art store pigment cabinet is from Germany (possibly 18th century) and was bought at Darrell Dean Antiques in Georgetown. We saw it at the Artists Inn Residence in Dupont Circle.

Below is an Italian artists pigment cabinet from the 19th century (also from Darrell Dean Antiques). Each drawer shows the color that was stored inside.
