AT reader, Antoine Di Muro recently repainted his living room in a stylish series of stipes that wrap around the room while also integrating the design with his home entertainment system. Looks great, though we're a bit worried about the precariously positioned component ontop of the subwoofer and the high position of both front speakers. Aesthetically it's a sight to behold; another photo of his setup below...
We just wonder why Antoine didn't position the set more central and at an optimal height instead of so close to the window and so off-center. But we've got to commend him for hiding the wires so well...perhaps those lines on the left are to represent the cables and wires gone free?

Is your couch 4 feet off the ground or do you have really long neck?
Do you enjoy looking at the glare of the window right next to your TV? (also that other second window is a bonus too being so close, it should wash out the picture nicely)
Do you enjoy the lack of bass that putting a subwoofer in the window would provide?
With the speakers that high about the TV, is there anyone on the second floor that might enjoy the sound from them because it certainly will not be anyone in that room?

OMG Nafai - back off. Perhaps he doesn't watch that much tv - or watches from a bar table or another room.
It's impossible to see what the rest of the room looks like from those shots.

the complete lack of symmetry makes my stomach turn, not that its not attractive but I'm just anal about symmetric design.

and yes the wall does look good which makes looks even more.... dare i say silly.
That IS a rather odd placement, but who knows, maybe that's where the studs are sturdiest (or something).
If I could make one suggestion: Mount a (right-justified) floating birch or natural colored shelf underneath the flatscreen to put the component on then add the lines onto the shelf...
It looks strange. Not being able to see the rest of the room doesn't help but having it all seemingly placed in the right corner of the room with two windows, a lamp, and a subwoofer way over just doesn't fit.
Somethings just need to be centered or have some sort of balance. A TV is one of them and this just seems too far off. I couldn't enjoy TV or a movie in there without constantly thinking about the placement. I agree with matt's stomach turning comment.
