Artdsgnr's apartment is no stranger to Apartment Therapy. His unique design style and ability to mix different styles together has constantly impressed and inspired us. One thing that recently caught our eye was his fish tank. It appeared normal at first, but upon closer inspection (we asked him to shoot a photo for us) we realized it had Playmobil pirates in it! For a closer look, check the photo after the jump.
The tank houses two Black Moor Goldfish named Bubbles and Morrissey and we think it's just so much fun the way Matt (artdsgnr) dressed up his tank by adding some Playmobil pirates. Little and inexpensive details like this is what making an apartment a home is all about.

i would LOVE to have a goldfish bowl or cylinder vase. the problem is the amount of waste the fish create.
why doesn't someone create an under-gravel battery operated pump and aerator, so there would be no unseemly tubes or wires? you could fit it into any bowl, vase, etc. you would like.
Well, an underwater aerator would need the air to come from someplace, so if it doesn't have a tube to the surface... where's the air going to come from?
And of course, an aerator does nothing to filter out waste. Either you have to run a filter, or use the old-fashioned net-and-Dixie-cup alternative.
Having said all that, there must be some sleek little tanks out there...

ooo! yes. i've seen those tanks. the plants are so lush and beautiful.
someone had posted a do it yourself filter made out of a film roll and charcoal and aerator on an aquarium site.
i suppose the air tube hidden by using silicone to attach it to something like a piece of driftwood, bringing it to the surface.
I like the lamp! anyone know where that comes from?

If you're looking for a lovely and sleek tank you should check out the seamless acrylic tanks by Eclipse. I have 2 in my home (a 6 gal and a 12 gal) and I LOVE them! All the filtration and motor apparatus is contained in the sleek black hood and the curved front is so lovely to look at. Keep in mind that since they are acrylic they will scratch so you have to buy algae scrapers made just for acrylic. They also come in a 3 gal size if you're really limited on space.
