Our post yesterday, Change Your Bedding, Change Your Look, was inspired by The One and Only Jet Guer's photostream. Because we were inspired by his bedding transformation, we decided to take a closer look at the rest of his space. What we found was his neat and organized closet which was given a further upgrade by adding framed photographs and artwork on the top shelf. We decided to roundup other ways to give your closet its own upgrade with these 5 inspirational ideas after the jump.
Adding wallpaper to a closet extends the decor of your space to a much overlooked smaller space. You'll also want to keep your wallpapered closet organized (if only to show it off to guests).
We thing adding a coat of paint (the bolder the better) will allow clothes and shoes to pop (and actually allow you to see what you have hiding in your closet).
To extend the space of your room (and to make your clothes easily searchable) replace the door with fabric and add extra lighting.
By simply placing a mirror on the interior of the door, the mirror adds a bit of glam to an otherwise drab space. If you prefer the look of a decorative mirror instead of a floor length mirror--go for it.
We see the biggest make-over (and quite honestly the most simple solution) when you make all the hangers uniform. We like the look of these Klem Coat Hangers but we also really like the look of organic wood hangers as well.

I guess if you only own 12 shirts and 4 sweaters, you would have room for artwork in your closet. I like the stenciling though.
Nice post. Imagine having space for artwork in your closet! I'd rather have clothes as artwork though, or shoes rather, imagine having rows and rows of well organised shoes!!!

Perfect if you have very few clothes or lots of extra closets where you can store the luggage, extra bedding, towels, etc.

i agree about wanting more clothes than artwork in my closet! but i must admit, that simple idea of just placing a white screw hook above the closet door mirror is pretty smart. i never thought to do that - would be the perfect amount of extra space as i'm figuring out what to wear at night!

A friend of mine tacks up inspiration pictures from fashion magazines on a corkboard on her closet door, it's really cute!
I would prefer to use shelf as storage rather than a display for artwork. Closets are utilitarian spaces, not meant to be decorative.
I notice that he stores those shirts with the sleeves pre-rolled. That or else he gets several wearings out of them.
I do have pictures in glass frames in my closet. The problem is that although the wall space seems unused, I'd keep bumping them off when I'd pull down boxes from the top shelf.
Maybe gluing magazine photos to the wall would work better- can't knock those off!
Sadly, my closet is wall to wall and floor to ceiling storage solutions. Good idea though for those with much less storage needs.
I have to admit I did take out a lot of clothes from my closet to take this shot and I have a 2nd closet next to my room, but on the top part I never store clothes or overcrowd it with unnecessary clutter so there was room for artwork. It's nice to see that when you open your closet especially since my nephew made them them for me.
BTW, the sleeves on my shirts are pre-rolled before they are hung in the closet. I always wear them prerolled so when I am in a rush I don't have to worry about rolling up the sleeve and just put it on and go!
The art in the closet was my least favorite one. I liked the wallpaper, mirror and stenciling though
