When we spotted this glimpse into the home of blogger Andrea of Hula Seventy we were drawn to the ceiling in her daughter's room. The lanterns, parasols and lights give it a touch of magic and seems like the perfect meeting ground for daughters craving a "princess room" and parents trying to keep away from a Disney look.

We also were quite enamored with the use of large typographic letters in their living room. They're neat to look at and add depth and texture to the walls. So if you find letters you like, don't feel like you have to make them spell something.
See more of Andrea's lovely home at Cafe Mom's Home and Garden Buzz and visit Andrea at Hula Seventy.

I love that Japanese lantern on the ceiling! A bunch of those would be fun in a boy's room. How did you attach them?
Paper lanterns are a great way to add color and interest to a room at a very low price. I like to hang them in groups of three different coordinating colors and sizes. You can hang the lanterns from the ceiling with clear fishing line and a thumbtack the same color as your ceiling - if you don't want to add lighting.
