We're no stranger at trying to make the earth a better place here at AT. Any search will produce many "green" idea posts, from gardening, to recycling to cleaning products and even green home decor. It should come as no surprise that we here in Austin are excited and gearing up for the great celebration of Earth Day just around the corner! More after the jump!
This year's Earth Day theme is "Gateway to a Green Economy" and will be focusing on educating the thousands of Austin residents who are poised to attend. Along with members of the community, you can expect to see local green businesses, environmental groups and the arts community in full force to celebrate this important day. Just a few of the activities planned this year are a local farmer's market, an Earth Day expo with local green products, and lots of green art for sale and for viewing. You can enjoy the music from a variety of bands on their solar powered stage throughout the day and there are lots of activities planned to keep kids entertained and educated on saving the environment.
The fourth annual Austin Earth Day celebrations are put on by no small effort from the community partner and organization Austin Green Art. The event will be held on Saturday, April 18th in and around Republic Square Park in Downtown Austin, located at 4th and Guadalupe Streets. The events go on from 9a.m. to 3p.m. and are free to the public. More information can be found at the Austin Earth Day website.
