While it may no longer be kitchen and bath month around AT, when we were emailed the Flickr stream of an Austin resident who took his drab, cookie-cutter small kitchen and turned it into a dynamic and effective space fit for a cook, we knew we had to share! More after the jump!
Like many of us in small apartments and condos, owner Jason hated his beige kitchen. Not only did it look pretty bad, but it totally didn't work for his needs. As an avid chef, not only did he not have the space to store all his stuff, but he could never reach anything he needed. The space was also plagued by terrible lighting.
Sure, the new appearance gets a great boost by the gorgeous new appliances he bought, but Jason also did a lot of DIY projects himself, like customizing the cabinetry by removing some doors and changing hardware. He also added a lot of lighting to really freshen the space. A new coat of bright, modern paint makes this formally hum-drum kitchen sing! We even love his use of colored boxes to organize his pantry items on his open shelves.
