Washington Square Tavern in Brookline has a slight obsession with antique bicycles — which we think is a handsome idea for bar decor — and this is their pièce de résistance. As bike owners and admirers we love the idea of putting a really beautiful bike, not just up on the wall, but framed like art on the wall...
Forgive our iPhone pictures — it was dark in the bar and all we had on us. Our best guess is that this fixed gear bike with wooden rims is circa 1900 and, although it could probably still be ridden, looks perfect from its framed perch. We could easily see this idea play out at home in a more modern or graphic way by painting a frame behind and/or around where the bike hangs on the wall.
Anyone have their own glorified treatment for wall-mounted bicycles?
