We love the lines and colors of this elegant piece by Maria Yee, and think it would look great in any living space. Even better, this piece holds a secret- can you guess what it is?...

The Aptos Laptop Workstation is hiding a compact home office! There are openings in the back to allow cords to pass through to the built-in power ports, the top drawer folds down to reveal a laptop storage space and out to provide a desktop, and the bottom drawer is a file cabinet with built-in file guides.
Priced at $2012, the Aptos is made of eco-friendly ghinmu wood, assembled using traditional joinery and finished with natural lacquer. We found this wonderful piece at Bungalow Homewares Gallery; Daryl is one of the only retailers in the DC area carrying pieces by Maria Yee.

I just bought a vintage Chippendale breakfront off Craigslist - it has a similar feature that the top "drawer" flops down and slides out to reveal a desktop, organizer slots and drawers like a secretary.
This type of thing is not new.
very stylish
It's a secretary desk. Quite lovely, but hardly innovative. I was expecting a secretary, actually, when I clicked the link I thought the surprise would be it's NOT a secretary, it's actually, I dunno, a way to hide a big flatscreen or something.
Maria Yeeâs pieces are beautiful, functional and eco-friendly. She fuses ancient joinery techniques with modern production practices to create amazing handcrafted items that will last for generations.
Mariaâs clean-line designs are enhanced by the innovative materials she uses, such as BambooTimbreâ¢, which is a patent-pending, rapidly renewable material Maria invented as an alternative to hardwood.
