We stumbled across insmika's black accent wall in her inspirational, modern art-styled pad. We didn't realize it was a chalkboard wall until we scrolled through her flickr set of pictures. Check out some great before and after photos after the jump.

We've been coveting every black wall we've seen lately (we have plans to decorate our boyfriend's new apartment and there will definitely be a black wall or two). This group of pictures shows how insmika uses a black accent wall to make the space feel modern and classy but then mixes it up by using chalk to create a flirty and fun atmosphere. When you're done with the chalkboard aspect of the wall and want a more "grown-up" vibe--just wash the chalk off. This is a great example of how you can make a black wall function in a variety of ways so your space can change with your mood.
What are some easy ways you mix it up in your apartment?

I've wanted to do this in my foyer for awhile now. This might've been just the motivation I needed to do it. This weekend it is! I'll post the results here.
Today I am framing a 6'x4' chalkboard with a wide gold frame! I have decided to hang it in my very formal living room. The room is mostly cream and white, looking into the white kitchen with black counters. I hope the chalkboard adds the fun yet classy look that I think it will. if not, the masonite was only $5.00 and I can put the old art back in the frame and all will be back to normal. I am hoping it will be a fun, changable art piece.
the recent Domino was all about black walls. I would be interested to see it in a home where the person did it themselves, sans designer/super-rich touches
Sigh. Is there anything chalkboard paint doesn't make better?
I put Chalkboard paint on my mailbox....picture frames,
etc. I love it. Oh and flower pots..they look really nice.
