Chalkboard paint has become popular - we've seen walls done with it plenty of times, and almost always like the effect. We really like what Anastasia of Faiella Design has done with it here though - a border above the wainscoting, that manages to look fun while staying completely grown up.

I think this is WAY cool. Romantic, and very hip. I think it is very creative. I agree, the chandalier is nice too! A nice room all around!
The chandelier is a Jim Misner, Light Opera Chandelier. Jim is a local Bay area lighting designer and does tons of custom designs from vintage and found objects.
I just love his work and how it fits in with this design scheme!
