AT:SF reader Christina wrote in to show us her DIY lamp. She was inspired by our post, How To: Make a Glittering Lightscape. She says, Well, it's more a "lightsource" than a lamp. But i found the DIY project idea on AT so I thought i'd share!...
...I bought the Xmas lights at ikea and I already had the canvas. I penciled the backside with the pattern I wanted and then made holes with a screw. The lamp isn't perfect, as there were many left-over bulbs and I didn't quite know what to do with them. I didn't want them coming down the wall so I just kind of randomly shoved them into the canvas. Still thinking about how to solve this problem, but in the mean time it's a great, soft source of lighting. Cost me about 30 bucks and two hours of a Sunday-- totally worth it.
Thanks, Christina!

Rad light Christina!
Just in time for the holiday magic. It looks really calming.
LOL, 'randomly shoved' -- you made a random piece of art, it's great and I want to try it myself.
This is exactly what I've been planning to do in my bathroom as a "night light" sort of thing, made with acrylic and twinkle lights. Very pretty!
Now this is pretty cool.
These always look so cool. For some reason, I'm worried it won't look as awesome if *I* try it.
I love it...have been thinking about trying it since I first saw in blueprint....love how you used a smalled canvas
Very nice! Looks very festive!
Nice work, Christina! I may try this for my bathroom
Right on!
Great job! I did this same project!
this is from blueprint mag
adding one to the pile - the lamp looks great with the art on the wall too =)
Very nice job. You make it sound very simple.
thats really cute, i'd like to try something like this!
I love this!! My husband makes custom lighting and when I showed him a "lightbulb" went off in his head...
Very cute! If only you could get Xmas lights that come with their own little transformer so you don't even have to worry about cords!
