We love this security door at one of our friend's houses - unlike any security door we've ever had, it actually has style, instead of screaming, "Hey, I'm scared you're going to rob me!" See below the jump for a close-up.
Its vintage style is definitely stylish, and it's the kind of security door we would love - our friends can leave the real door behind it open all night, letting a cross breeze blow through their house while still feeling safe.

That doesn't say vintage to me at all...it says "Arizona". Every other house on any street you choose here will have that, or another similar style, screen door. Perhaps in a state far removed from Arizona, but I personally cannot ever see that working as "vintage".
hmm. i dunno. i think any iron security door screams "Hey I'm scared you're going to rob me." maybe bc i grew up in a low income neighborhood, but i've seen plenty of doors that look like this.
I like it.
It looks like your friends are mid-renovation. Please let us know if they find any lovely exterior sconces! I'm not having much luck with my own search.
ditto to ae.woodford. those are everywhere in az.
Does not thrill me much at all.
Speaking for the East Coast, I've never seen one and like it.
I really HATE those....sorry. They make the home look so blah.

First it says high crime, then it says Home Depot. Seriously these are as common as dirt in Los Angeles. They aren't vintage at all.
um, secure against what, exactly?
Might be interesting if they painted it, perhaps lots of colors. This door made me think of South Africa. I visited a few years ago, and they have these inside their houses! So, if someone breaks into the living room, they can't make it down the hall to where the bedrooms are. Very eye opening to see these big metal portals in the middle of a home!
