A home in a hat. Friends of ours have a great little house in Michigan that they are working on slowly (and enjoying it immensely). A recent project that they had some help with was roof repairs. One of the tradespeople left behind a cap hanging on a nail outside the back door. This spring, some birds moved in and are raising a family in the hat.
We were so enamored of this little home when we visited a few weekends ago - watching the parent(s?) dart in and out of the side of the cap, bringing nourishment back to their incredibly NOISY young.
The sound of the little ones was so sweet - completely hidden from the curious eyes of us humans, the family chirped and chattered away in their tiny, precariously balanced home, delighting us all.
