Norwegian-based photographer Trine Thorsen photographed a creative shoe storage solution that would work in our home near the back door, especially during mud-season. It's made using a vintage ladder to store shoes where you don't have enough space for much else...
We like how this unique storage solution gets shoes up off the ground in an inches-wide space. It's a great way to use vertical space to store something that might otherwise be piled in a mess near the door. The well-used wooden ladder works a more casual home, especially with older boots or shoes. If we did this in a less casual mudroom or to store heels behind a bedroom or closet door, we could see the ladder painted a fun, glossy accent color. In our entryway, we'd hang a large red hook near the top for the dog leash, and secure the ladder to it, just to make sure it didn't get accidentally knocked over!

I love this! Now, to find a vintage ladder....I tried to find one this Christmas to hang our stockings from (no fireplace) but had no luck. Any ideas?
babydragonsister,
Try Brimfield, yard sales, craigslist.....
I agree with you that its all about which ladder to use-- what a fun idea to use one for hanging Christmas stockings!
