I think I'd rather fill a gorgeous bookcase like that with...well, books.
I'm sure they all smell just fine, but something about a few dozen pairs of used shoes stacked up right next to the dining room table....................
Or are these on display in a retail space?
i am kicking myself for selling -- for $10 -- a cute victorian repro china cabinet. would have been perfect for this!
but i have to say that hanging shoes by their heels on a shelf over a doorway seems like a recipe for disaster!
Imelda - What did you do with my books???
Who has that many pairs of shoes?
The barrister (lawyer) bookcases are great for storage as they protect against dust. If I had space, I would love to use vintage pieces like that for shoes and purses! Great way to stay organized. However, they do need space.
I am still looking to use shelves with covers like this for a space in the future. It would be a great way to organize and hide projects.
The hutchs and china cabinets are certainly a fun option if you have a room in some living space that you can dedicate to dressing and such.
Thanks!
Arrgh, I'm sure it makes sense to shoe freaks, but all these shoes not on feet and off the ground just gross me out!
I'm with amizonikon in that such a gorgeous bookcase is best used for books, and I wouldn't want to eat my breakfast surrounded by all those shoes. I like the mail caddy option, though.
I adore those vintage mail caddies, but the picture rail idea is absolutely ingenious! Since I don't have a picture rail, it spurred me to try the same thing with the moulding around the inside of my closet/dressing room door... and it works fabulously! (Fortunately—or not—I don't own enough shoes to take up much more space than that anyway.)
Awesome! Now I can look at all my ratty sneakers and dirty boots all the time!
MMMMm Yuk. Isn't that a dining table in front?
I don't think I would like to have a nice meal with a display of worn shoes behind or in front of me.
I can never get enough ideas for shoe storage. When I moved in with my boyfriend he just looked at my giant pile for a long while then offered a bonfire as a solution. For now they are in a giant bin shoved in the closet. Poor pretty boots and heels :(
What's more suitable to be displayed behind glass than a soiled, sweaty innersole? Magnifique!
Me no likey.
Pewwwww Don't like the idea at all
really creative but your feet have to smell of yasmin!!!
I have a question. Can someone show me the way to store boots? I have6 pairs of boots and they stay always spread on the floor. I start to hate them!!
i think it only works if you only wear pretty lady dolly shoes... or vintage leather men's shoes... and a shabby chic cabinet to accompany that.
or an expensive sneaker collection... like barely used y3s in a sleek modern setting...
otherwise, it would look entirely rubbish...
I'm with bepsf. I totally don't get the shoe mania.
I'm not sure what's worse, having that many shoes or displaying these trophy's of materialism for all to see.
(Speaking of the first picture in the glassed in case)
I'd bet it stinks when you open up those glass doors. Shoes need to breathe.
I like the second photo best. When filled with your prettiest shoes and evening bags, a case like that can look quite like art. As with anything else you own and love, why not show it off?
For the boot storage question, the best trick I've heard so far is to stick a rolled up magazine inside each boot so they stand upright and don' wrinkle. They're easier to arrange neatly that way, as well.
yuck
this is absolutely distasteful. who wants to open that cabinet up and get a whiff of old shoes. gross.
I really dislike this.
Why does AT:LA keep looking for ways to display shoes?
The shoes aren't even lined up well in the barristers' cases. It looks sort of like retail, but poorly done.
i need shoe storage!!! i have an obsession with pumas and although many pairs are in sad state of affairs by now, and probably unfit to be worn, i would love to find a unique way of displaying them. i was even thinking of just saving one per pair (many are so worn out they wouldn't even be fit for value village) and displaying them some how. i like to think about all the places i've been in those shoes, plus, i have many rare and beautiful pum-ies that i have collected off ebay and from outlet shops.
hmmmmmmm........
