These are great ideas if you don't have a cat... mine would be all over the yarn, knocking things over.
That first one would end in tears for me - I am such a klutz I would grab for some yarn and knock the whole tray over. But the shoe thing is pretty ingenius.

When I was in college, I was a fiber arts specialist in my fine arts degree. I did weaving on a hand loom. I bought sumptuous delicious yarns, expensive yarns, and they looked too gorgeous in piles and balls to even use. This became a BIG dilemma!!! When I moved cross-country and sold my loom, I decided to not look back. Now I avoid yarn stores lest I succumb again! The examples here are boring plain knitting yarns... beware the breathtaking handspun novelty yarns!!! Worse than drugs!
I'm with Anne - love the display but my 3 Siamese would have that dismantled in seconds!
I keep my yarn in hanging shoe and sweater organizers in my closet (no door on it) and organize it by color, so because of the large visible square it looks very nice.
The first picture is pretty, but ridiculous. It saves you ZERO space having it in anything but a giant apartment would be pointless. And it would be hard to actually use the yarn on the wreath display (also I'd hazard a guess that those wreath balls aren't yarn all the way through to the middle).
I keep my yarn in wine racks. it works pretty well.

I agree, cat people, my yarn-in-creamers idea doesn't work if you have cats. Mine are not able to get into this room, so the yarn is safe :o)
Mabith-the point wasn't really to save space, it was just to enjoy the pretty colors. My yarn is mostly stored in the dresser upon which this tray sits. It makes me happy and I don't feel a bit ridiculous having it out like that.
These are all cute for brief temporary display, but I keep my yarn in plastic bins in a closet because I want to keep the dust off of it.
(Still, I am enjoying heylucy's pretty colors! :)
Yeah, except for #3v it looks clutter-y to me . ( Note to self avoid sensous yarn drug addiction!)
