Did anyone else notice page 102 of the June issue of Dwell and the awesome handcut hexagonal Flor carpet tiles highlighted in the showcase loft space? We totally want to copy this idea for our bedroom, though we remember cutting Flor tiles was a tedious task we're not hot to repeat (we wish we had one of these). But if you want someone else to do all the hard work of cutting and creating a custom shaped rug, there is another option below...

John Pour Home offers a selection of typographic design rugs, ranging from welcoming greetings like "Make Yourself At Home" to Arnold flavoured goodbyes. You can also custom order messages, fonts or pictures to your specs from their selection of colours (all rugs are 5mm thickness). "Shoes Off Please" would be the message I'd want for our stairway entry.

I cut flor tiles myself into long narrow rectangles and didn't find it hard at all. I used a metal straight edge and a sharp blade and cut them from the back. The tiles I used were the House Pet line...maybe plusher styles are harder to cut?
darn! I got all excited, thinking that FLOR came out with a new style. That's some great handiwork. I wonder what they did with the scraps?
Lets hope they sent the cut corner pieces back to FLOR for recycling...
Yeah, I saw that too, and my wheels went turning too. 8^)
Todd Oldham has done some really cool things with FLOR...scalloped edges and the like...though I can't remember where I saw this...
