Spotted last night at Grano Trattoria: a really neat use of dark color on a ceiling. This great little restaurant recently underwent a decor change, and it's looking a bit more upscale right now, but the chef and the vibe is still laid back and friendly. Keeping their walls a light, warm color, they painted the drop ceiling a dark, warm color, which brings it down but not oppressively. Because there is a great deal of lighting on the walls and the ceiling has reveals on both sides, the overall effect is cozy.
