Inspiration: David Weeks' Weekend Home

Sure, few of us have anything as lofty as a weekend home -- or even a shack in the country -- but a house is a house, and designer David Weeks' weekend abode, as presented in a new house tour on Cookie, has some inspiring ideas for family-oriented decorating that we can all get behind. His operative principle: keep it simple. It always looks so easy when other people do it...

It's actually not difficult to create a minimalist family-oriented space that is friendly rather than austere, but it does take some thought. Some of our favorite ideas in Weeks' home include the playful daisy chandelier in the entryway, the wainscoting used for displaying postcards, the kid artwork hung in a grid, and the noted absence of window and floor treatments in most rooms.
