Australian chef Donna Hay is a well-known name in every household around the country. With fresh, original recipes suited to the Australian lifestyle and amazing photographs, the Donna Hay magazines and cookbooks really are quality food porn. If you want some great recipes head over to The Kitchn, but if you want some ideas for great looking table settings and tips on entertaining see more after the jump.
Cheap and smiple table settings can make all the difference to your dinner party. A few different ideas Donna suggests are; Using a cheap sushi mat, weave a ribbon in and out of the mat around the napkin and cutlery. To make a unique table runner, sew a range of different crocheted doilies onto a transparent cotton [our nanna would be proud!]. Finally, using different vintage tiles as coasters or trivets will save any damage to your table.
Place cards are an easy way to make your guests feel extra special. Three examples above are amazingly simple; try tying your guests name to a miniature apple with ribbon, using a curl of bees wax or a piece of nice paper slotted into the gap of a fortune cookie.
You don't need lots of fresh flowers to dress up your table. Using decorative tea or coffee cups filled with a few roses, old jam jars filled with flowers hung at different heights for an outside dinner party, or using different size and shaped wine glasses for short stemmed flowers will all make a difference to you table.
While we could just look at the photo's all day, the Donna Hay website is full of ideas and great recipes.
