I saw these in Los Angeles last month and really liked them...through the window of a restaurant called Shima.
They're Eames shell chairs, but with dowel bases, in mixed colors and bar height. The only place that makes these still is Modernica....

what is ever not to like about Eames?
Not only do they use modern furniture they use vintage when ever possible. They use vintage Bauer thru out, which looks great with their food. And their food always taste fresh and tasty.
About 6 months ago i was checking out the DWR on Columbus Ave. and I made the mistake of asking the salesperson if she had seen the Eames chairs with the dowels. Firstly, she pretended like she had never heard of such a thing, which, while possible i find hard to believe since she presumably is up on her furniture knowledge, fakes or not. Then she gave me the whole, "they're not Eames chairs" lecture, which i knew but i worded my question incorrectly to her. she was such a snob i didnt bother to explain that. suffice it to say, i actually prefer the knock offs with the dowels.
didnt mean to go off on a rant against DWR, but there you go.
The people at DWR are clueless and they don't care. Half the products that they sell are copies (fakes), but they don't talk about that.
i just saw the same bar chair (white) in the new Jack Bauer show call "Touch" ((I know, he is not Jack in the show, but Kiefer is totally not outta the character)). The prop is used in their fancy kitchen's large counter. LOVE IT! Thanks for the info, i have been looking for it.
