Look! Expertly Edited Flower Box

This unassuming little flower box is a highlight of our daily route to the dog park, and we always stop to gaze. The combination of textures and colors is just beautifully thought-out, especially against the rich blue paint of the house. With some help from a knowledgeable friend, we've identified the plants for those of you who are inspired...

Plants from left to right: sweet potato vine (reddish-black foliage); bacopa (white flower); carex (rust-colored grass); lithadora 'Grace Ward' (blue flower); dusty miller (silvery-gray foliage); heuchera (coral bells)

It seems to us that what really makes the design of this little garden work is the lithadora, that striking bolt of blue flowers. The pleasing symmetry of the plants (notice how there are two of almost everything?) might've come across as boring without that single blue note.

What's growing in your flower box these days?
