We're notoriously indecisive, so it was no surprise that when trying to decide on a color and pattern of FLOR tiles to use for a entry runner we ended up ordering literally boxes of samples. Luckily we have a fairly ingenious boyfriend who realized we could stretch our full sized tiles by using the samples in between them. At first we weren't sure we liked it, but the colorful look has really grown on us.
Three sample tiles are the exact width of one full sized tile, so no cutting is needed for a perfect fit.
For $5 you get six samples, full sized tiles run from $8.79 - $24.99 each. Available from FLOR online.

Love this. It doesn't look like you were basically throwing together a bunch of random samples. Rather, it comes off as very well-designed. I may have to steal this idea!
That is really attractive, I liked it in an instant. Flor may steal the idea from you!
this looks awesome!
after seeing yesterday's post on the beautiful ALTO step rugs:http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/la/giveaways/la-wednesday-giveaway-043008-049470
the first thing i thought about was trying to make step rugs for my stairs out of FLOR tile samples.
i measured my steps and they are about 10.5" wide, which is almost exactly half the size of a FLOR tile itself, and they are double the length of a FLOR tile (40"). so it turns i could cover one step by using 1 FLOR tile cut in half. not bad either...
i'm a little undecided as to which way to go with this idea... samples or regular tiles.... hmmm
The rug is nice.
But now the 'we' persona is going WAY too far.
Now WE have A boyfriend?!?!?!?
This is worse than TV news writing - Breaking news... The mayor dies, yesterday. Ughh and shudder.
@clickchick
That's so funny!
On the other hand, I have some man-jobs that could be done by "our" boyfriend around the apartment.
Everyone should have at least one communal boyfriend lying around the house. AT is simply on the cutting edge of things...
ugh, i hate the liberal use of the royal we as well! so annoying!
oh, the rug is cool though, sorry
@ saudoso: LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
In spite of my past tirade against abusing the Flor Tile sample program I love the look of this one.
We are amused.
Hey, it's more environmentally friendly to use them than toss them away. This is a great idea.
on another note--overstock has some flor tiles on their site for less than 50 bucks.

jooly--
You can send 'em back to Flor for recycling.
I agree on the 'we' thing. It is annoying.
I wonder if Our boyfriend could do something like this at my place? I just need something big enough to reach from sofa to chairs.
Aftwards, maybe our boyfriend hang some mirrors for me.
I think it's "our boyfriend hang some mirrors for *us*."
i use them as coasters!
I was originally going to make a scratching post for my cat with the samples (until, sadly, she passed). But I wonder what you used to keep them held together in place (or what can I use?).
Communal boyfriend.
Why hadn't I thought of that back in my single days???!!!
Brilliant.
excuse me... Why hadn't WE thought of that back in OUR single days?
