Again, backyards not common in apartments - get on track, AT
ChrisGal: planter boxes can be used anywhere.
Just found out last night my new rental has chives growing in the shared garden area. (I live on the top floor of a triplex.) Raspberries and strawberries too! Talk about added value.
Chives are beautiful and indestructible. AND tasty on a baked potato, etc. Easy to grow (EVEN ON A BALCONY, ChrisGal.)
lots of apartments in Philadelphia have backyards or some outdoor space. keep them coming!
Yay! Yum! Chives!
Where I live, flowering chives are extra great because they are unappetizing to deer (which eat most everything else I try to grow).
Those are so pretty. I see them in clusters in my area and look gorgeous. The bonus is a delicious topping on a potato.
This is the first year my chives bloomed, and also some friends of mine said the same thing. I wonder why? In fact everything in my yard is blooming abundantly, with lots of volunteer seedlings too....didn't do anything special.
That is so pretty! I grow chives in my garden, but I've never let them get to the point that they bloom.
