Handmade Beni Ourain style Moroccan rugs have been increasingly popular in the last few years. Always a classic, these neutral colored Berber style carpets are usually some combination of cream and grey and feature a simple graphic print.
Often popping up in the pages of Elle Decor or Living Etc., the style may be more popular than ever, but they are definitely not inexpensive. While having an authentic version would be ideal, West Elm has created a version that offers a similar look with a much lighter price tag.

There are a lot of great affordable rugs on West Elm. Thanks for the tip!
Ugh. I've been in love with that West Elm rug for months but $1500 (CAD) for the size I'd need is still too steep for my budget. Clicked on this post hoping it was to be the "look" for which you'd found a cheaper alternative. Can we do a round up of great, 8x10 or 9x12 area rugs for under $700, please?
Ha, nothing more depressing than the budget item being double what you have to spend.
Beni ourain rugs are made of 100 % HAND SPUN , HAND KNOTTED ,Natural , organic Undyed wool with a long pile ( wich means a big amount of wool woven on it ,and what means heavy rugs an ,consequently ,relatively high shipping fees from Morocco where they are hand crafted ).
For under $700 8 X 10 , i'm not sure it is realy A BENI OURAIN RUG STYLE we are talking about !!!
You can always find some of those gorgeous rugs for reasonably affordable cost here :
