Where can you find those great glass jars?

lol, I just started going to the laundrymat. Compared to trying to do my laundry in at my parent's house, the laundrymat is a dream :)

If you use a front loader, and who isn't?, the liquid is the best, and transferring it to something else is just a little too Whatever, Martha! for me. Those jars weigh a freaking ton, and trying to get the last bits of detergent for one more load would involve upper-body strength.

I could just see a kid learning how to do laundry by themselves mistakenly putting a scoop of dry bleach instead of powdered soap in a washload of bright colors - or someone accidentally breaking one of those heavy jars - or spilled powdered soap eventually getting everywhere between the jar and the opening to the machine.

I agree w/ Mr Faux - It's a pretty idea in a "Martha's Show-House" sort of way...
...but not extremely practical.

It's a nice, thoughtful touch. But I personally wouldn't want to put my hand in there. I imagine a lot of powdered soap underneath fingernails.

It is nice but am sure I would be the one to drop the large glass jar on the hard floor when it was still filled to the brim with whatever.

My mom's had those for over a decade - I think it was a Martha Stewart "Good Thing" once. The downside for me is that you are locked in to powdered detergent and most detergents are liquid these days...

I think you would have to be pretty forgetful to need a sign like that.

Surprisingly they dont weight that much - My Mom has some and they are fantastic. I much prefer them to the ugly boxes that sit in the laundry room.

I like the tiled shelf. It looks like someone got a little creative with an Ikea Lack shelf and some leftover tiles...

oxyclean! soap in one, change in another, oxyclean on the other side. and yes it really does work. like magic.

OH! what about people who use liquid soap, fabric softener and bleach? what about using one of those large absinthe pourers? that might look cool.

I was thinking that a honey dripper would be good for the liquid soap and fabric softener (people still use that stuff?!) … and you could use powdered bleach instead of liquid. Or use lemon juice instead of bleach, and have a jar filled with whole lemons.

I use a plastic storage bin for my laundry detergent. I buy those gigantic boxes of powdered detergent, and since my laundry "room" is really in the kitchen, I don't want those ugly neon boxes sitting out in the open. Maybe I should upgrade to glass eventually though. This looks much nicer.

I concur on oxyclean. I hate a neighbor (in nyc) comment on how white my whites are. They are that clean!! Cute idea but more maintenance than it's worth me thinks...

We make our own laundry soap and use those glass containers (got them at WalMart) and they work really well.

If you use liquid soap, you could use one of those glass lemonade dispenser things. (I can't think of the right word) No need to move the jar around that way, so no fear of breaking.

Is it me or is absolutely ANYTHING in glass canisters sexy?

It's hard to see, but we actually have labels on the jars, so it doesn't get confusing.

We keep dog biscuits in one, and dryer sheets in the other (they are both just running low in the photo). :)
