Putting together a home office on a budget isn't always easy. It's easy to think that you'll never be able to stay on budget and get everything you need. One thing that everyone needs, is a great desk. You can't go around that. It's the main focus of any home office and needs to be well chosen. A great way of using technology and saving money, is to work on some great moods by using LEDs in strategic places. That's what Michael Bilotta did in his new home office.
Michael Bilotta, a photographer and videographer from the Boston area, put together this amazing looking home office. What I really like about this home office is the lighting, which is striking and well done. Bilotta uses simple components and uses them with great ease to make a usual room exceptional. The frosted-glass surface of this desk was enhanced with the addition of IKEA Dioder LED lights. Not content just to add them anywhere, he strategically place them for maximum effect. I especially like the one right underneath the keyboard. They encircle the keyboard with a great backlight, which almost no keyboard has.
Next to the desk, there is a basic wire-cube storage unit, that also serves as a rack for his peripherals. It casts interesting shadows thanks to more smartly placed LED lights. Cables are managed underneath the desk, and the minimally decorated room comes together in a great fashion. I really like this room. The low-light environment makes it perfect for long video-edition and Photoshop sessions, when you need to concentrate on your screen. [via Lifehacker, photos via Michael Bilotta]
