We love catching glimpses into people's home while walking down the street. Catching little peeks into someone's life through the window is such a treat, and occasionally we find little treasures, like this...
Walking through the park, we immediately noticed this great hanging plant system. The owner has suspended planter boxes from rope threaded through great, large pulleys! We love the look of this suspension system, and how it is framed beautifully in each window.
We love the idea of finding a number of vintage pulleys and creating a great window or patio display of hanging plants. This seems like a great ebay/thrift store/flea market search!

Uh, do the owners know about this? Creepy.
haha, sorry carder I'm a decor peeker too.
I had to check out the comments to see if anyone else was freaked out by this - glad to see I'm not the only one. The idea of the pulley system is cool, but snooping (or "peeking") in people's windows is not.
Hahaha funny post. I think it's ok to take a peek at the exterior of a home/apartment especially if you just like what you see. The owners hung those baskets/pulleys in the open windows so I am sure you are not the first to peek at them.
Anyhow I have those same orchid baskets:

I love to walk around the neighborhood at dusk, when most people have turned on the lights, but haven't yet closed the drapes. It's the best decor-peeking time! I assume people do it to our house as well.
I think we all take peeks as we go past other people's windows, it is the photos and how close up the one is that creep me out.
I was about to say that the close-up photo could just be a zoomed in shot from the far vantage point, but then I more closely examined the position of the bushes in relation to the window, and it does look like the photographer was standing quite close to the window for the second shot.
it looks like the angle is pointing much more upwards than the first, and may likely have been taken from the person's own lawn. That seems to be stepping over the bounds a little.
I'm ok with taking a picture from across the street, or the sidewalk, but when you step on the person's property, that's peeping-tom territory.
I walk by this window every day because it faces onto the park where all of us dogowners poop our pooches. the windows are high up and there's no way to see anyone in the room. The residents of this space definitely know that people look into their windows -- they change the objects according to season. At Christmastime they hang 3 small trees upside down from the pulleys. It's way cute and not creepy. I like.
Carder, I would think that it is a simple zoom lens. or the resolution is so good they can crop it.
We have driven around and taken pictures of peoples lights.
I think this is a cool idea and would make watering hanging plants much easier.
As for the snooping, if the property adjoins a park and this view is clearly visible from it, I don't think it's intrusive to capture it in a photo.
Legally speaking, as long as you're not on the person's property, then you can take as many photos as you want.
