In the past, we've shared some of of our favorite DIY headboard ideas, and this idea featured in Homes & Gardens certainly isn't a new one. But this headboard wall hanging is worth another look as many of us are looking to rejuvenate our homes this spring without breaking bank. Check out some of our textile-and-rod pairings after the jump... The biggest challenge (and most fun) for this project is pairing a textile pattern with an appropriate curtain rod set. Unlike curtains where there's bigger emphasis visually in a room, a headboard wall hanging has a lot more leeway when it comes to bigger patterns and brighter colors. The best part? It's a cinch AND inexpensive to swap out the fabric when you get tired of waking up to the same old look. (Or you could just use it as "extra storage" to hang an extra blanket or quilt...) Here are a few ideas we've pulled together...
A streamlined curtain rod, like Ikea's Dämpa, would be ideal with a strong graphic pattern, like Sanna Annukka's textile design for Marimekko.
Target's Simply Shabby Chic Key Drapery Rod paired with this endearing Sweet Mod Motif design from ReproDepot reminds us of one of our favorite childhood books, The Secret Garden.
West Elm's Wood Rod with Cylinder Finial has a finished look but its deep wood finish is in line with this rustic denim blue striped fabric from Warm Biscuit. [ Photo from Homes and Gardens ]
