While walking through the new Ikea Brooklyn today, Aaron from ATNY found a piece of furniture that could easily be Unplggd...
The $60 Mandal bedside table has a small wooden flap at the back, which opens up into the table's main compartment.
Aaron suggested placing a power strip inside and feeding lamp and clock cables through the small handle cut out of the flap. We think that's a stellar idea.

that's smart thinkin!
now only if it looked 10x better? i doubt that combo of black and exposed wood (pine?) is going to compliment most interiors. Did they forget about solid colors?
It's actually not a bad looking piece and it uses real wood so you can stain it/paint it whatever color you want.
Although, I'm fairly certain that the little storage area was meant for wire management to begin with.
yeah, seconding mscot - i seriously doubt they designed that back compartment so serendipitously and ingeniously purely accidentally.
Wait, is it open? According to the site, it doesn't open till next week. Did you guys score an early walk-through?
the other items in the Mandal line don't have cool compartments for cords... and the page for this particular bedside table says nada about a "cord compartment" or any compartment at all...

Understood. But if you see it in the store, that's the first thing that comes to mind so I'm gonna stick with my story. :P
