To changing table or not to changing table? That is the question. As part of our Scavenger feature, one of the items we see for sale on Craigslist over and over again is changing tables. They have a relatively short shelf-life in the nursery and while they can be repurposed, it seems that most folks opt to give them away or sell them. Instead, many parents look for a more functional furniture piece - at the right height - that can be used for changing diapers in the beginning and also make for useful storage. Here's one great example using the Ikea Gorm system.

At first glance the Gorm storage units look destined for the garage or basement, but using fabric storage really softens them up for the nursery. These parents (featured on Ikea Hacker) also used the Gorm storage crate, cloth Vacker storage drawers and wooden dowels to hang a quilt and a basket for diapers. The Gorm system is modular so you can pick and choose the pieces that will fit your space best. Read more about this "hack" here.

And, in case you missed it, don't forget to check out the use of Ikea's Trofast system as a changing station in Zadie's A to Z Abode.
