Horizontal lines are a great way to visually "extend" your space and make it feel larger. We spotted this simple but striking wall treatment in one of the model showrooms at IKEA. They painted the wall a warm grey and put up evenly spaced dark stained 1 x 2's on the entire wall. We love the end result. What do you guys think? Is this something you'd consider for your place? Has anyone does this before? (a few more pics after the jump)
i love this sort of wall treatment!
thanks for posting these pics - it is helpful to see that it can be just as dramatic with spaces between the slats!
I really like it, but I have a ton of walnut furniture and this would look way too gloomy. It cold look great in a room with lots of light or less heavy furniture than I have.
my first thought is that it would be a serious pain to dust.
ok - PB has been featuring a lot of horizontal planked walls - I see this now at IKEA - personally, that's a lot of money and a lot of weight to have on a wall - but, could you create a similar effect w/paint....? (especially if you were going for a painted-plank wall effect?)
i love to see more on this.
I did the wooden slats on metal framed glass panell wall for our company's offices downtown- looks fantastic.
I love this. seems like it would look great in a bathroom to give it a spa feeling.
We plan on doing this same type of design on a living room wall. We will put up corking and over it, in a "sunburst" design, slats. We will leave the slats natural wood and treat them with poly acrylic. The design I've worked out in my graphics program is beautiful.
I'll send photos when we get it done.
