We recently got fed up with the clutter on our bedside table, and sorting through it all turned into ditching the table altogether. After deciding that our alarm clock is only thing we need to see in the morning, we rigged up this pedestal for it out of an upturned Ikea vase and a simple stool.
Our old table was square, and we'd crack our shins on the corner constantly when walking by the bed. We figured that everything that used to go on it and might accumulate -- books, mainly -- we can set on the floor, encouraging us to sort through the pile more often.
It's a temporary solution though -- we're saving up for Umbra's Rolly Table.

is it secured to the vase somehow? i don't know about you, but i can easily see that alarm clock go flying across the room as i wildly attack it in the morning to stop the alarm.
I have that alarm clock! Have you knocked it off the vase yet? Hehe. :)
Ha! It's been there for 3 mornings, and no mishaps yet. I must me a fairly calm riser...
I see yellena! I need to frame mine...soon! I've used a flower pot from Ikea to hold magazines. Love it!
I'd bust the clock and the vase. I've been known to pound the crap out of my clocks. Sometimes I beg and plead with it desperately to stop waking me up.
No kidding.
i can't see my clock from my bed either. i use a slightly different method for raising my clock. i like the idea of using a vase or something similar as a pedestal, even though i'd probably knock the alarm flying.
That is an accident waiting to happen.
i like your bedsheets. who makes them?
The sheets are from Anthropologie, bought last summer on sale. I love them too!
I love Yellena! I have one of her prints too. :o)
Come on now....really?
Looks like something I would consider for about one second before my husband gave me the crazy eye roll...
