When we asked you "What's the Appropriate TV for a Kid's Room?," the answer was a loud-and-clear N-O. Most of you, despite growing up with TVs in your rooms, elected that your kids shouldn't have their own TVs at all. Well turn your heads, because this kid has an award-winning video setup in his teenage boudoir...

A mom wanted to surprise her son with a big-screen theater setup as a room-warming gift when they built their new house. But instead of just wrapping the box and setting it in his room like a normal mom, this techie had the builders reframe and reinforce the ceiling and lay flush the 100-inch rear-projection screen.

Positioned behind—well, on top of—the screen are a video projector and projection mirrors, for a total weight of about 300 pounds that's dangling above you while you sleep. Plus, there's the wiring to connect the setup to the teen's gaming consoles, laptop and cable box.

What's kind of cool is that since the screen is so big and has a large viewing angle, you really don't need to be on your back under it to see the screen! No wonder this setup is a finalist in Electronic House's "Best Other Space" category for their 2009 Home of the Year awards.

Would you ever consider a setup like this in your grown-up home?
