Friday evening closer. SKGR adores this. Hanging in the window at Michele Varian on Crosby Street is an odd creation: a simple, rounded white pendant with a knit top. Very Etsy and knit modern, don't you think? However, rather than buy it, she's working on finding a pendant and knitting her own cozy.

OMG ... this SO reminds me of what my roommate did in 1976, crocheting white cozies for her red table lamps, the shades of which were shaped just like this! They even had white fringe hanging down. La plus ca change ...
Hmmm... this is really a neat idea, but it looks very sloppily and unevenly knit. Is that just the pic, or is that how it is? Love the concept, not sure about the execution in this case.
Totally diggin' the wallpaper.
this lamp is by perch! design and available all over the country. check out the whole line of work, it's lovely.

I try not to be negative, but this is truly ghastly
JonathanB got it in one.
horrible & would get so dusty.
oh, cool. thanks for the link to perch!
I've been in the store, and it has some nice stuff, probably better than the pic indicates. Out of my price range, though, unfortunately.
Knit modern??? You've got to be kidding. Sorry. I find it ridiculously cutesy.
Seems very 60's hippy to me. Is macramae (sp?) the next trend?
Ugh, the pic in the link looks equally poorly knit! I don't understand how this can cost so much and look so shoddy. This looks like it was somebody's very first knitting project. The idea kind of reminds me of the little knit candle holders Anthropologie had last year, except those were super cute and this is fugs.
I'm afraid of a fire hazard here, but it also just kind of bothers me that it looks like it would be impossible to keep clean, and the line of it reminds me of some kind of oxidation instead of something clean.
I don't understand why a pendant lamp needs a sweater. Is it going to get cold? It's a friggin lamp! The knitting is purposeless and adds no asthetics. How much does this thing cost? I'm willing to bet it sells for some outrageous price.
If I saw this lamp (or ANYTHING like it) in someone's home, I would be inclined to seriously ask them why.
The wallpaper, AND the other lamp in the window.
I'm not feeling the lamp cozy.
FYI the wallpaper is from neisha crosland...

Thanks Addy. Those are quite out of my price range, but so beautiful, it's a pleasure to look at the website. She has a wonderful feel for color.
